About the game
Ultimate Texas Hold'em is a modern twist on the classic Texas Hold'em Poker game. Unlike traditional Texas Hold'em, where players compete against each other, UTH pits players only against the dealer. Throughout the hand, players have the option to make a single raise at any time. The key feature of this variation is that the earlier the raise is made, the more valuable it becomes, adding a strategic layer to the game. Players use community cards, just like in classic Texas Hold'em, but the focus is entirely on outplaying the dealer rather than competing with other players.
How to play
In front of the player, the table displays various betting spots:
- Ante
- Blind
- Play
- Trips
- Progressive Jackpot
Before the cards are dealt in a round, each player must place an equal wager in both the ANTE and BLIND circles, and may also place TRIPS and Progressive Jackpot wagers.
The TRIPS wager is optional and must be made before any cards are dealt. The wager pays out if the player’s five-card hand contains Three of a Kind or better.
The Progressive Jackpot is another optional bet; to participate, the player must place a $1 bet in the designated area on the layout, and it pays out only if the player hits certain hands.
The game starts with the dealer placing five community cards, face down in the center of the table.
The dealer will then deliver two cards face down to each active player at the table, followed by two cards to themselves.
Once the cards have been dealt, players may inspect their hands and choose to either check, opting not to bet but remain in the game, or place a PLAY wager, which cannot be altered once made.
The amount a player wagers on the PLAY bet is fixed and must adhere strictly to the betting rules as follows:
a. BEFORE THE FLOP: the player can check or must bet 3x or 4x their ANTE wager.
- Once all players have acted, the dealer will reveal the first three community cards, also known as THE FLOP.
b. AFTER THE FLOP: the player can check or must bet 2x their ANTE wager.
- Once all players have acted, the dealer will reveal the final two community cards, also known as THE RIVER.
c. ON THE RIVER: the player must bet 1x their ANTE wager or fold
- When a player folds, they give up on the current hand and choose not to continue playing in that round. By folding, they lose any bets they've already made, and their cards are discarded.
Once all players’ hands have been completed, the dealer will reveal their hand, form the best possible five-card poker hand using the five community cards and their two-hole cards, and compare it with each player’s hand. The higher hand wins.
