About this performance

Honeymoon Suite

Honeymoon Suite was originally formed in 1981 by lead singer and guitarist Johnnie Dee from Niagara Falls, ON. Following the departure of his original lead guitarist, Johnnie met Derry Grehan, also from the Niagara Falls area, and he ended up joining the band. Johnnie and Derry immediately decided to re-build the band at that point, and recruited Dave Betts on drums, Ray Coburn on keyboards, and Gary Lalonde on bass. They hit the road hard, playing 6 nights a week, and writing songs with the hope of getting a record deal.

In 1983, the band entered a demo of “New Girl Now” to a Homegrown Contest put on by Toronto rock station Q107.  They won that year and this led to a multi-album, worldwide deal with WEA Canada after being signed by A&R president Bob Roper. The band recorded their debut self-titled album which was released in July, 1984. The album was an instant success, and with the help of massive airplay, several videos on MTV and MuchMusic, it went on to sell over 300,000 copies in Canada alone.

Since their debut album, Honeymoon Suite has released a total of nine studio albums to date, with well over 1 million units sold worldwide. They’ve enjoyed an incredible run of success driven by a string of hit singes such as “New Girl Now,” “Burning In Love,” “Stay In the Light,” “Wave Babies,” “Feel It Again” and “What Does It Take,” to name a few. The band has won numerous awards including a Canadian Juno for “Group of the Year” in 1986, triple platinum sales in Canada on the first three albums, and platinum sales for the Greatest Hits album The Singles released in 1989.

In 2024, the band released their 10th studio album ALIVE produced by Mike Krompass and in 2025 released Wake Me Up When The Sun Goes Down. With no sign of slowing down, Honeymoon Suite continue to create new music and tour year round thanks to a legion of loyal fans, and constant radio airplay to this day.

Headpins

Headpins are a west coast Canadian classic rock group known for their multi-gold and platinum albums and chart-topping hits. Cofounded by Brian Macleod and Ab Bryant in 1980, the group quickly gained popularity and became a driving force on the music scene with major hits including "Don't It Make Ya Feel," "Just One More Time," "Turn It Loud," "Feel My Body," and many more. The current lineup consists of Kat Lawrence (lead vocals), Ab Bryant (bass), Bernie Aubin (drums), Tony Dellacroce (guitar) and Alfie Galpin (guitar and keyboard).

Lee Aaron

She is one of Canada’s most iconic vocalists, a songwriter, producer, and fearless re-inventor. She was one of the very first women writing and performing hard rock, releasing her first album, The Lee Aaron Project, at the age of only nineteen. Her sophomore release, 1984’s Metal Queen solidified Aaron as a trailblazer for women in rock in the 80’s with the title track – an anthem of feminine empowerment and shout-out against the sexism toward women in that genre – garnering her respect and legions of rock fans around the globe.

Later releases, 1989’s Bodyrock and 1991’s Some Girls Do Both reached multi-platinum status and included chart-toppers like, “Whatcha Do To My Body” and “Hands On.” She’s shared stages with Heart, Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, Suzi Quatro, Sinead O’Connor, Mötley Crüe, Van Morrison, and more. Chart Magazine proclaimed Aaron’s Bodyrock LP (1989) one of the 20 most influential Canadian albums of the 80’s with Alanis Morrisette and Shania Twain both “under Aaron’s influence.”

Seventeen albums into her enduring career, with multiple accolades, including 10 JUNO nominations, CMPA Songwriters, Much Music Video, Music Express, and Toronto Music Awards, she’s still going strong. In 2004, Aaron took a decade long hiatus to raise her family (with husband/drummer John Cody) but blazed back onto the scene in 2016 with Fire And Gasoline, meeting rave reviews. With a wealth of new original material and a refreshed rock sound, she has released 5 albums since, all of which she self-produced. World-renowned mix engineer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Bryan Adams) has worked alongside Aaron and the band on her last 2 albums bringing his trademark, kick-ass sounds to RADIO ON! (2021) and ELEVATE (2022).
